Spearmint is a member of the mint family of herbs. It is used with meats, most notably lamb and as a refreshing flavour boost with traditional Middle Eastern foods and fruit based sweets.
Our favourite recipe made with spearmint is Strawberry Rhubarb Pie! The spearmint is amazing with the strawberries. Also, our recipe uses tapioca as the filling thickener rather than flour. It’s gluten free and does not have that powdery consistency from the wheat flour. Happy to share.
Tea Tip: Any herb can be made as a “tea” by infusing the herb in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. We think loose tea pots are cute, but a coffee press is the perfect tool for making loose tea.
Your body can capture all that organic goodness by saving the spent herb from the tea in a container in the refrigerator and popping it into your next smoothie. Yeah, we know…great idea. Happy to share.
